Ayanna is an activist, politician and an advocate. Ayanna Pressley was the Massachusetts woman of color who was elected into the U.S. House of Representatives on November 6, 2018 was the first Commonwealth elected member of the color group. Ayanna is of the opinion that the voices from those who suffer the most will be the ones to be influencing policy. Ayanna was brought up in Chicago with her single mom and a father that had a history of criminal activity. Ayanna was educated with Sandra Pressley, a tenant's rights activist who taught her the importance of civic engagement. Because of her mother's dedication to the cause, Ayanna has always been keenly aware of the importance of government in lifting up families and communities.
