Aaliyah Dana Haughton exploded into the limelight in 1994 when she dropped her debut album Age Ain't nothing but A number. In the age group of 15 the album was awarded Gold standing. It was done as part of a group that was greatly influenced by R. Kelly and it brought her into the spotlight. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri and Timbaland for her sophomore studio album One In A Million, which featured the #1 hit song If Your Girl only knew. Aaliyah gained international fame for her R&B songs through this album. Aaliyah appeared alongside legendary Jet-Li, the famous martial artist in Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romance film. Joel Silver, the film producer, met her at the awards ceremony and kindly offered her this part. In 2002 she got to play the vampire flick Queen of the Damned which was an adaptation of the Anne Rice novel. After that, she entered the Matrix with her role as Zee on The Matrix Sequels having also appeared as a character in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions in the same year.
